"This
is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be
glad in it" Psalm 118:24
How
often do we say, "I can't wait until", "If
only I were older", "If only I were younger",
"I wish I was", etc. Just this last week,
the phrase "living in the moment” was given
new meaning in my life. Last Sunday night we took a
cool break from the Arizona heat and went ice skating
with several people from our church. There was a couple
there that I had met before, but wanted to get to know
a little better. We must have visited for over 1⁄2
hour, talking about our kids, how old they were, where
they lived and what they were doing. Then it was time
to go so we said our good byes.
After
work the next day, my husband shared with me some very
sad news. This couple, which I visited with the night
before, had a 19 year old son who was in a serious accident
in Southern California and wasn't expected to live!
In fact the next day he died. The good news in this
tragic story is that he knew Jesus Christ as his Savior.
I
was thinking back to when I was young; I often focused
on the future, or on the past and not always "in
the moment". My prayer for you is that you live
for Jesus one day at a time, making the most of the
moment.
