Coming
to the place of breaking in our life is not easy or
fun and yet many of us can attest that it is inevitable.
At some point in our life we come to the end of our-self
and our ways and find that not one of them has ever
worked. We are tired of failing and with no motivation
to muster up we lay ourselves before the Heavenly Father
and cry, “I’m sorry Father, I really tried,
but between college group, small group, church, work,
my friends, the gym and the make-up counter I just can’t
pull this “successful, having it all together”
women thing off. I don’t want to run this race
anymore Father, I am sorry. I don’t have any accomplishments
to bring, just me, just hurt, pain and all the stuff
in between.” In that final confession as the tears
stream down our faces we are probably more honest then
we have ever been in our life. Honesty becomes us and
the Father sees a heart that is moldable, ready to try
life his way. The Father whispers sweetly to us, “Did
you think I wouldn’t recognize you under all that
dirt, is that why you waited so long to come home? Come
my daughter, I have been waiting for you for such a
long time. I can handle your hurt and I can heal your
pain, I will teach you my way to walk, but you must
let go of your way and let my be your only beholder.
For though you are broken in my hand, I will restore
you and you shall know my love.”
It
is time to give our-selves over to him, to walk in his
ways, to live by the power of his Spirit and to experience
the joy that comes when all that we are is completely
drawn from him. If your heart is broken, I promise that
he can mend it. If your heart is aching, abused, torn,
scattered, lost, afraid, sad or lonely, I promise he
will heal it, because that is the nature of our God.
I to along with many others can personally testify that
he has taken me from the bondage of a heart that was
broken, abused, and afraid, and washed away every pain,
healed every wound and restored my life. He has taught
me to live abundantly and obediently. He has shown me
the things that take my joy, that take me captive and
cause me to stumble, and he has given me victory over
them. If your heart is already healed or never been
hurt then thank him. Still you must learn to walk in
his ways so that you can experience victory over this
world and the things that long to pull you away from
the Father. Let us walk this road together hand in hand,
those who are strong let us carry the weak, those who
are hurt be encouraged by the testimony of the healed.
Those who have been this way before, bring another along
with you. We are sisters in Christ, let us be encouraged
by one another and press on so that when he comes he
may say to us, “Well done thou good and faithful
servants, enter into my rest.”
